Are the hens of that breed good layers?

LF Brahmas are not known for being good layers. But from my research, they, along with LF Cochins, are some of the most docile, big, and protective roosters.

^X2 Brahmas are not the best at being layers. They are decent and also are known for continuing to lay eggs even during winter, however what they are known for is being Big, Beautiful, and Relaxed and often very friendly.

Is large size required?

If not, Welsummer might be a great choice for you. I've heard pretty glowing reviews about their overall temperament (though there are exceptions). Hens are prolific layers of beautiful, dark eggs.

Added bonus: you can cross a Welsummer rooster with a blue egg pullet for Olive Eggers.

Edited to add that I'm unfamiliar with available breeds in the UK. If these aren't an option, my apologies.

The probldm is though i need a breed that are like hybrid warrens

I had a bantam cochin rooster and he was only the size of one hand but he was a feisty little fella, managed to chase my mum from the garden past the kitchen all the way to the living room

had to give him away 3 weeks later
