What is the best breed of Quail to go with?

I have bobs, tux cortinix , & A&M , I make all my money off the bobs (egg sales & meat sales). I think the others are a waste of time but I still keep them, Just because I like birds.

For a first timer though, jumbos are much friendlier. when you get into the colors you are getting into the pharaoh sizes which can be a lot more skiddish. I always try ot reccomend jumbos for newbies so they can see how wonderful they are then get into the colors. Though some of my colors are very friendly it just depends

OOh ive seen it spelled some really crazy ways. I think it's the majority of the reason people say it wrong because everyones spelling it "CORTNIX" Lol i dont get where they get that from ....i think breeders just never look into the name, so they call it courtnix or cortnix or cortonix etc... and then they sell them to people and say it that way and the wrong spelling and wrong pronounciation virus spreads

I have raised both (on a small scale) so far, and I prefer Coturnix for their faster growth rate and egg production. Weeks not months. The other reason I chose coturnix is because you need a permit in GA. to sell bobs and couldn't figure out how to go about getting one. It's like a trade secret or something.

As far as ease of raising one over the other; it's pretty much a wash to me. They both have their own little quirks, but once you know them, and deal with them, they are about the same as far as ease of raising. IMHO.
I haven't raised any buttons. I wanted to raise food, not pets.

I have a Ga. permit & if you want the adress , Just PM me & I will let you have it. I guess I misunderstood about why people HAVE quail . It never occured to me that people kept them as pets!! I use them just as any other farm animal / crop. to grow & sell so as to make a living. just 2 ways of looking at the same thing.
