I have a silkie that sat on nothing last year so finally I gave her 6 eggs and she hatched out five and was a very good mother.I am going to get some buff orpingtions this spring because they go broody and are good mothers form what I have read. They are very friendly and not aggresive to other chickens and don`t mind confinement in the winter and are very winter hardy and lay eggs all winter.
