I really like the taste of the free range broilers (like from JM Hatchery). Could have something to do with the fact that I let them eat a lot of grass, bugs, etc. in addition to their feed, though.
taste most flavorful (tho less meat, less white meat in particular, and most likely less tender): slightly older birds (like, 4-5 mo) of a regular breed. The extra chantecler cockerel I et last summer at 16 wks was *superb*.
Different people can have really different tastes, though, so it is probably worth your trying some different things.
