What is the best type of bedding?

I am currently using straw for my bedding and have previously used hay. But my chickens are pooping machines and I was wondering if sand or shavings would be easier to clean? What is everyone else using?

I'm building a new coop and will use sand. Many people have their preferences, sand is mind.

I use a mixture of chopped straw and pine shavings. I did not like just straw and just pine shaving got too expensive when I went 20 chickens so I do a mixture.
