I had a raccoon in my barn. The state game warden told me to shoot it. Check local laws if you think about relocating as in some states it is illegal to relocate raccoons because they are rabies vectors.

Ft. Knox housing is the most important thing you can do! With that, and no food outside for night time visitors, most raccoon problems will disappear.
If there is an issue with raccoons or opossums living in, trap and shoot.
