What is the best way to get rid of a hawk...

Up here you can get in pretty big trouble for killing a wild bird of prey, otherwise sure why not. Any hawk mercenaries out there haha?
I'm gonna try the cd's out today.

I started shooting the hawks a couple years ago. Hawks are territorial, so usually I only have to dispatch a few & I don't see any for a couple months.

Before that I tried various methods of attracting crows which will naturally go after raptors. You can use an owl decoy or food to attract crows. If you have tree's that are at least 60 ft tall, you have more of a chance of getting the crows to build nests. there are also electronic crow callers available, & crow decoys can be used as well.

I've always wondered if the crow decoys on the ground would make hawks steer clear of your coop & run.

Here's a link that has info on attracting crows...

It's highly illegal to kill a raptor in the US. You don't have an eagle probably. They don't generally try to catch birds. They're mainly scavengers and fish eaters. And if you kill an eagle, I hope you're prepared to fork over about a hundred grand.

Maybe one of those owl decoys?? Or a scarecrow?

It takes a few years this way but it does work, plant some pecan trees, crows love pecans and crows will run hawks away, only draw back is, crows like eggs almost as much as pecans so buy some extra hens

...i said.."i only wish"...lol....we dont even have a gun or anything..so...it wouldnt even be possible anyway...dosnt mean i have to say i like them killing my birds though..just because they are raptors and its illegal to kill them...i Dont like them...i DO want them gone(although they ARE beautiful)....but...it is what it is..i just have to live with it i guess....AND..i think it really may be a brown Eagle...there is no way this thing is an Hawk..i have them also here.(and i can see the big size differance)..but..this one guy..is BIG...even my neighbor said it wasnt a Hawk..he saw it up close..it swooped down in his yard..and grabbed a rabbit...with him right there in plain view....actually to me..they seem like they could be dangerous to humans and children around here!..they seem to have NO fear at all...

...and also..you metioned they eat fish...i live right by a river(literally)...or whats an osprey?....i heard they are big also.....this guy that i have around here is all brown...totally solid brown...we also do have alot of bald eagles about 15 minutes up the road..at the Quabbin Resivour(sp?)....but..i dont see much of them here..they would be easy to tell what they are, with the white head and all...
