My daughter and I decieded to join in with the hatchalong. We set 40 eggs that are a mix between EE's and Ameraucana that were shipped from 2 different people. This is our first time hatching as well. I'm using a LG with turner and fan. I have been lucky with the temp staying around 99.5. Some of our eggshells are dark and we can't really tell whats going on inside when we try to candle them using a regular egg candler, others that have the lighter shell we have been able to see the veins and movement is some of them. Is there anything else that we could try and use or make to make the inside more visible of the darker eggs or just leave those eggs in when we reach lockdown and hope for the best, LOL. Today is day 13 for us. Any other helpful hints when if comes to lockdown day for us?
Thanks everyone!

My only suggestion is using a brighter light. I use a highpowered LED flashlight for my brown eggs. I made a cone for it out of a couple sheets of thick paper and some duct tape so it focuses the light into an area about the size of a nickel... Works pretty well.
