What is the breed that you see in children's storybooks?

I think I found the name before, but I can't seem to find them now...does anyone know the name of that breed? The rooster that has a reddish head and a lot of colors in there too?

And does the hen look as pretty for that breed?

Welsummer probably. Iconic image of a cock bird with red head neck, darker red on shoulder and green band on wing. And green sheen tail.

Books recently have done an amazing job at including a variety of chickens in their books.

I believe also a Welsummer rooster was the mascot for Kellogg's corn flakes years ago.

I agree, I think leghorns used to be a lot more common.
