Are they a better tasting bird than chickens? Are they a delicacy? Are they easier to care for and process?

I am doing my first batch of meaties right now and have some meat ducks comming. I also raise meat rabbits. I am just wondering if quail would be easier and why people like them so much. I have never had quail so I really have no experience.

The coturnix mature at 6 weeks, and start laying right around there. They're small, but tasty, and easy to raise. You'd just have to try some to see if it's your cup 'o' tea...

oh that makes me hungry lol
quail is very good.
no trans fats.
a natural food.
best part is its a finger food and goes well with or in a salad.

Easier to care for and process. They mature faster and are kind of like the mice of the bird world. Makes them economical when you are limited on space or feed.

oh, that looks good. So what type of quail are those, and can you tell how you clean/prep them for cooking? Are they easy to "de-feather"?? etc etc.

the ones I get are golden quail out of georgia. they cost me about $1.04 each and come gutted, plucked, and bagged. I just rinse, stuff, and smoke.
