What is the difference: Araucanas and Americanas?

So I've had several Araucanas that laid such pretty blue- green eggs. Such nice little hens too. What is the difference between them and the Americanas? At the local feed store I just got 2 Americanas. The girl said some of them lay pink eggs.

Have you heard of that before?

Also most sold as being "Araucanas" are really Easter Eegers or Americanas.

All lay blue green eggs.
Araucanas have tufts that stick out not just puffy looking cheeks.

Araucanas are the bases for the other two breeds and have a lower hatch rate than the EE's and Americanas. True Araucanas are also very hard to find.

To my knowledge its two names for the same chicken. when i got mine the lady said it was an americauna but i had thought it was araucana. she said it was the same thing.

My two little chickies are not going to be rumpless. And I'd say more of a muff on their cheeks.
They are sure cute and I love the blueish, greenish eggs!
