What is the difference between a chicken coop and a chicken tractor?

Looking for the pros and cons to either.

tractor:smaller, portable, spread the poop (and dug up grass) around the yard, less secure from predators, limits size of flock, fewer materials needed
coops: can be larger and house more chickens, more secure, more flies and poop to deal with in one area, usually more weatherproof, easier to add on when you get more chickens (which you WILL do)

coop is typically stationary... something they can go into and out of (typically into a run or free range). size is up to your available space.

a tractor is sorta a small coop and run that is moveable so the birds can get fresh grass to graze on. usually smaller overall due to the need to move the whole outfit.

a tractor is (as stated) a light, portable coop or run, or it might be a coop or run on wheels.

essentially a tractor is a coop or run that is able to be moved from one spot to the next. like stated, it spreads the poop around, the digging, but it also gives the chickens fresh bugs and grass

Hi, i see this is an older thread, but would a person need both a coop and a tractor?

Darn handy to have a spare tractor. Use it to grow out a new batch of youngster unmolested, use it as a breeding pen, put a broody and her chicks in it, or use it when getting new chickens as a place to keep them separate during the 30 day health inspection period. If your setup doesn't have multiple stalls or pens, one of these is just the ticket.
