I know Araucanas have no tail. Ameraucanas do. I had a buff colored one. But how do you tell if you're getting an ameraucana or an easter egger? Is there a list of differences?

"Easter Eggers" was just a marketing ploy to sell chickens that layed green/blue eggs. Some of the Eggers had tails, some didn't. Another difference between the Aracauna and the Ameraucauna is that Ameraucaunas have muffs, whereas the Aracauna has "earrings". The earrings look like little bits of skin hanging off the face that are hanging off the face, as opposed to having a fuzzy face. Prettier than it sounds;)

oops, yah, little delirious. you can tell by how much sense my posts have been making. in my head, it all made sense. dang fever. was just trying to remember the proper name, and all that i could find was the tufts being described as earrings.

I did a little research and found out that Amerucanas have muffs ( not tufts) and beards, tails, pea combs, Have to have slate blue legs and red ear lobes ( females lobes are pale). I got this info from the "Chicken Chick" website.

Thank you all for your responses. I appreciate it. keep them coming! I will let you all know if I find my hens.
Blessing!
