What is the difference between breeder and hatchery birds?

Crested breeds tend to lack bigger, more dominant crests than those of breeder's standards. But just what Master said.

Also they may have problems with their feet, comb, wattles, etc...

Hatcheries have dozens and dozens of breeds. They have a lot of people hatching birds for them. They buy cheap and sell to the public. They deal in thousands of chicks. Breeders, on the other hand have much fewer breeds, sometimes just one or two. They take more time to get the best breed characteristics they can. They also charge much more for this quality, so hatcheries are not always interested in them. I'm not dissing hatcheries. They have a distinct place in the poultry world, but they are not able to control the quality of the birds they receive.
