Yeah, I never understood about them either. They are all well and cute but I haven't actually seen what others breed to get them. I haven't cared to get any but it would be neat to know what people breed together to get all those wild feathers. And I know a Silkie is thrown in there somewhere.
I have always heard a sizzle is when you cross a frizzle and a silkie. Here is a photo of my frizzle if that helps any. I have no clue what his actual breed or breed mix is. He was a rescue chicken.
I just know I can't breed him to my blue frizzle cochins because that would be bad because frizzle X Frizzle does something weird with the genes out the resulting offspring.
Too cute!
I wasn't sure that a frizzle would get you a sizzle. I just never have heard in all the time I have been on BYC about what people breed to get them. I know they are mixes but I thought there was a certain way to mix them to get those. And I didn't know the difference in what made a sizzle be called just that .........and a frizzle is different how?
I do understand about the lethal genes though with the breeding of frizzle to frizzle. Happens in Araucanas and some mammals. You just have to watch how you breed them to try and avoid that.
This is an interesting thread. I hope there are more answers.
Uh, thanks, bsaffles! Needed that smile for the day!
