Truly what is the difference between jumbo coturnix quail and normal coturnix quail. I have normal coturnix and I just hatched 166 of the jumbo. Thank you all for any help.

The difference is size. The jumbos were bred for larger size.

I was just freaking out to my sister because I had 22 out of 25 eggs hatch. Wasn't expecting so many. 166!! Holy cow and good luck :)

As soon as I figure out how to post pics on here I'll post one of my brooder and the 166... I set another 100 last night. I'm hoping to have a freezer full by spring..

Here's the pic of my brooder I made

That's a great set up!

I've been thinking about the whole size thing and remembered that I have 2 hens and a male that aren't jumbo browns that have the same sizing to them. One hen is a Texas A&M, the other is a tuxedo, and the male is not so noticeable tuxedo which just means it takes a moment to notice his coloring.

A&Ms are bred to have a larger body and egg size. One Tux is Tibetan and A&M, so that's where her size comes from. The male is A&M and jumbo brown, so I think that may be the reason he has so little white and only on his chest. It was really hard trying to color sex him. In fact, I couldn't.

You get all kinds of colors and sizes to play with!

Ok, I'll stop acting crazy now.

I think it's great. I have a few a&ms and tuxes I'm going to cross them with a jumbo coturnix male and see what happens.
