What Is The Diffrents !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just wondering, because I have 5 suppose to be BR, but some of them are darker, and others are loghter colors and all of them are pullets.

This screams to me that they aren't sexed right and you actually have males and females.

clairese def has a different body than my barred rocks the br's are fluffier and have very yellow legs and clairese her feathers lay flat her legs are pale and she is alot darker than them and i know they are all females cause all of em are laying sorry not trying to take over your post op just a bit confused now and still

there is a visible difference in color the lighting doesnt matter its like that when both standing next to each other.

Thank you guys for the Input, I believe I have at least one Maran, because her eggs are very dark Brown.

Thanks again.

With hatchery stock, the differences are not so clear, especially in the barring, which should be more straight and defined on BRs, but most often is not. I've heard that some folks got pale legged BRs from a hatchery, though mine all have yellow legs, till they fade with the laying cycle (they still look yellow-ish, not white). Doms are the easiest because of the comb difference, having a rose comb rather than a single comb.

Omran, that pullet you posted a pic of with all the pale, almost non-existent barring in her chest area is not a pure BR. What she is crossed with, I dont know, but her father would be the Br and her mother something else, since if her mother was the BR and the sire a different breed, she would be solid colored, more or less. BR sires pass barring to all the kids in some form or fashion.

Usually, if you think you have a white legged BR, it's a Cuckoo Marans or possibly a cross of the two, which would have white legs since white skin is dominant.

I have one BR hen who lays a quite dark egg, compared to my others. Sometimes, it looks like milk chocolate.

chickenbottom, I was talking about Omran's photo in a different thread, not the one you posted above.

I only have Barred Plymouth Rocks, not Marans or Doms, but I'm posting pics of these birds to show you how hatchery stock can vary widely.

Here are two three-and-a-half year old BR hens, both from Ideal. Ivy is first--she looks to me more like a Cuckoo Marans, but her legs are definitely yellow. The barring is ghosty and fades out completely in areas, but she is large bodied, as she should be:

This is Lexie..she is as light-colored as her sons are, small bodied for a standard BR, but lays a dark egg, the darkest of all my BRs.

Here is a flat of BR eggs. All are from BR hens from my friend, Kate's flock, except the dark one in the center, which belongs to Lexie:
