What is the dosage for fenbendazole?

Sorry! I had baytril on the brain because of my day at work!! I meant Panacur!! Thankyou for bringing that to my attention Halo!!

The dosage I have posted was for Panacur, not Baytril, and it is obtainable from vets/licenced animal feed wholesalers

I was told that you can also use the paste. Actually, I have used it with no ill effects. As directed, I squirt a small amount (about the size of a large BB/pellet) into each chickens' mouth. (I have standard size breeds... Andalusians and Orpingtons, btw.)

Using safeguard for sick chicken. How many days to give dose if giving directly in mouth? How many days if putting in water? Thanks.

Dont put safeguard in water, the liquid safeguard settles to the bottom and is also too diluted to be effective. Administer it orally 1/2cc to standard size birds, 1/4cc to smaller birds, then redose again in 10 days.

ok. thank you. so I want to be sure I understand. I only give one dose of 1/4cc to my chicken. then wait 10 days. and give another 1/4cc.?
thanks again.

If your chicken is a small breed such as a banty, silkie...yes, 1/4cc safeguard liquid goat wormer orally, then repeat dosing again in 10 days.
The second dosing will kill worms hatched from eggs missed by the first dosing.

Oh goodness, and a harsh antibiotic at that! All the fluoroquinolones are quite invasive, broad-spectrum antibiotics, and have some harsh side effects, from random tendon snapping (last I checked, doctors were not sure why that happens), to severe gastric distress and abnormal liver enzymes. And you'll definitely have to toss eggs for a while with that one, because it has a very long residual effect and almost complete tissue permeability, and will surely find its way into your girl's eggs! I worked as a vet tech for 10 years, and it was something we prescribed only for the worst of the worst infections, especially food animals. And it's banned for poultry use, since about 9 or 10 years ago. We could not prescribe or administer it legally to chickens at our practice.
Believe me, Baytril is not something you want to administer casually.
