@itsasmallfarm I only have 1 Embden and 1 Toulouse Embden is gander Toulouse is the female
My Embden is pretty placid from June thru Dec. The he begins to get more possessive of his mate and will act like he is going to bite me by dropping his head and ruffling his feathers.Then when breeding season comes around he is very ornery he doesn't want anyone human or bird around his girl and will bite me if I give him half a chance. Since he is going on 10 yrs old now and he was hatched here I can pretty much read what he is thinking and avoid being bitten. But any gander is going to be like this protective of their mates and kids just like any good parent. So young children should never be left alone with geese. And adults need to know how to train one to be respectful of their owners.I love my gander but will not tolerate him biting me or any one else.
My female is just laid back and only acts ornery towards other flock members but not to aggression. Together though I watch them close during breeding season because they have ganged up on a few of my Muscovy females in the water.
