Is one bird more of a yellow/orange/golden color as it appears to be in the pictures of it's head?

I thought so - you have one light brahma and one buff brahma. Unfortunately, without an approximate age it is difficult to judge some of the characteristics (the comb/wattles). The buff bird looks like a pullet to me and the light doesn't *scream* cockerel, but with only the head shot all we can really go by is the comb/wattle which leads back to not knowing their age. Perhaps you can post pictures of your light bird similar to those you have shared of the buff.
