What is the little red box by my posts??

I'm a bit confused as I keep seeing a little red box under my posts in my profile section. I've gone there several times throughout the day because I forget the titles of threads I've posted to (and I'm an incurable chatterbox, I type a lot and usually sporadically and all over the place) =) So I go to my profile to find the threads I posted to, to see if I had a reply.

On some of my posts there is a little red box underneath with a white number inside it. Later on in the day, the same post...and it's not there anymore. Then another little red box with another white number in it pops up on another post and later disappears.

What are these little red boxes? The posts I see the little red boxes underneath are posts that I've been humorous (not offensive in any way, shape or form) in. I can't imagine I've broken any rules, but I guess anything is possible.

Or... are these the number of replies that have been posted to that specific thread since last I visited it perhaps?

The little red box is just to let you know how many posts have been posted since you last viewed the thread.
