Tough to answer - lots of peoples talk about their silkies as being good lap chickens.

Orpingtons, silkies, cochins - most anything that is raised with a lot of interaction. Make pets of your hens - not your roosters. Overly socialized roosters frequently lose respect and become human aggressive.

My lap chickens and have been since the day they hatched, are 3-3 year old EE hens.

My Black Australorps are HUGE lap babies....they beg for me to sit down in the run just so they can pile on my lap. Some even defend the position closest to me. They are 2 years old this year and have been doing this since they were tiny babies.
