What is the most popular...

I can tell you that in THIS area I just happened to mention in an ad when I was selling baby chicks that I would soon have Bourbon and Midget turk babies too. I've been inundated with emails begging me for my Bourbon poults that hadn't even hatched yet. But I don't think a lot of people even know the Midget breed.

It really depends on the area you live in. In our area the locals don't care for white turkeys very much. There are alot of commercial turkey farmers around here and just about everybody says they "look like turkey house turkeys" and turn up their nose. People that want eye candy seem to be drawn to the Royal Palms, hunters like the Bronze "cause they look like wild turkeys". But our best selling to locals would have to be the Bourbons.

Bourbon reds do seem to be rather popular. I much prefer the Narragansett and Sweetgrass, but it really does depend on your area. Some people like white varieties (if you get white, I'd encourage you to go with the Beltsville whites...smaller, more economical bird -imo- and every bit as good as the BBWhite monsters AND is on the ALBC's critical list) because they dress out cleaner, some like the fancy ones for some sweet yard candy. I'd talk to some of the folks around town and see what they'd be interested, in particular 4-Hers. Good luck and let us know what you go with!!
