What is the name of the Speckled Sussex color?

The closest color to speckled sussex in a bantam cochin is mille fleur.

Here is a description of "speckled" I found online: "The feathers of the Speckled variety all have a mix of mahogany and black with white tips. Sometimes the amount of white increases as the bird moults each year."

Krys, you are the genetics whiz, tell us what it says....LOL

It basically says that various patterns are the result of various forms of the mottling gene (mo). I looked in the British Standards OEG are mo on duckwing (e+) but no columbian (Co).

e+ because the females have salmon breast & "partridge" rest of body where Co would have evened the colour ,& not Co because Co would have removed the lack from the breast of the male.

OK wow thats really complicated sounding... LOL I just wanted to know if I could get a bantam cochin in that deep red and black with the white tips. I liked the spangled one, but its a little too white. I might just go for a Mille Fleure and call it good.

The spangled- like sussex- is dark red, black (green) and white. Mille Fleur is more orange than red. I wish there was a way to get the spangled into cochins- I like it so much more than MF. Can you imagine it in a standard?
