what is the npip # for seramas

Quote:
You as a Breeder/Farm/Person have a NPIP Certification Number but each breed has a "code".

Besides writing LARGE FOWL, RHODE ISLAND RED, ROSE COMB the tester would wright R183.
R = OTHER LARGE BREEDS & VARIETIES and 183 = RHODE ISLAND RED, ROSE COMB

Or

Besides writing LARGE FOWL, RHODE ISLAND RED, SINGLE COMB the tester would wright R247
R = OTHER LARGE BREEDS & VARIETIES and 247 = RHODE ISLAND RED, SINGLE COMB

Each breed and variety has their own ID code. Those breeds and varieties are listed with the state as the birds tested for your flock.

that's right Chris.

The code is placed on you transfer form instead of the breed name. This way the states knows what you should and should not have in your flock.
They dont go by name of breed, color of breed and all, just these codes which tell them all that. Seramas just have a serama code as they are not recognized as a true breeding color bird.

If it's not APA or ABA recognized, they dont have a code for it (speaking of colors) in that case you just put the breed code.

You should have gotten a full list of your codes when you got all your NPIP paper work. If you didnt , contact them

or you can go to the USDA APHIS website, click on NPIP and go to the breed codes section and get them all.

This is not a state thing by the way, every NPIP member across the country is supposed to use these codes.
