What is the percentage of hatches for a broody?

I love these reply's, wouldn't it be something if out of the 16 eggs she is sitting on I got like 10 hatches????? This is worse than waiting to give actual birth..

Maybe I'm just unlucky and I haven't had alot of broodies, but mine never seem to hatch that many babies. I think about three is average for me, and that is ducks and chickens, I've never seen any chuck the bad eggs either.

Currently we have 4 broodies all sitting on the same nest, everytime I check them I find several of the eggs pushed to the outside in the cold. I removed all the clear ones, and tucked the good ones back under. The red hen that started it all is very good with the eggs, being careful to make sure they are all tucked in, but the two white ones aren't quite as good. You'd think with all those warm bodies the eggs would be in great shape, but when the two white girls sit in the front (their normal spot) some eggs always get left out.

Haviris, you would probably have a better hatch if you took the eggs and the red hen and gave them a spot away from the other hens. With that many all trying to take care of the eggs, they are probably doing more harm than good.

You're probably right, I've never had more then one sitting on the same nest before so I know that wasn't the problem in the past. The girls actually belong to me my mom. I had my first broody this year start sitting yesterday, but I moved her for safety reasons and she got up, I'll have to wait and see if she goes back to them, there are only two and I'm not sure they are even fertile, if she goes back to sitting I'll give her some good ones.
