For our laying flock we buy an organic layer pellet @ $23.71 for a 50/lb bag.

For our baby chicks, we buy an organic chick starter @ $14.71 for 25/lb bag.

But those bags can last us almost a month since our flock free-ranges on chemical-free acreage and supplemented with fresh fruits and veggie scraps as well as BOSS. I'm sure with winter coming up, they'll increase their need for the feed tho'.

I pay $14.50 for 16% M&G layer pellets in Galveston. I could drive to Santa Fe and save $2 but that's about 50 miles round trip. My supplier gets all his stuff from Santa Fe and puts a little mark-up on it to cover his costs. Gladly pay the extra 2 bucks.

Since you have a response from the UK...I will post some Australian Prices too.

20 kg bag layer pellets. Can range from $12 to $18 depending on which store you go to.
20 Kg bag of Starter or grower is $20- $25
Things like game bird feed- or anything organic is more like $30 for 20KG
Wheat is around $12 for $25 Kg
A bale of straw $ 10
A bale of good quality Lucerne hay $20 in good times or straight off the farm you can get it for as low as $15

NE Georgia

22% Organic Super Layer pellets is around $12

28% Medicated Gamebird starter is around $15 (If only I could get non medicated!!)

Just got some Chick Grower 18% in Houston, TX. Almost $18 for a 50# bag.

Glad I don't have horses any more. Coastal hay: $13.50 a bale. Drought really hurt us.

Locally, I cannot do better than 16.00 - 50lbs. laying crumbles. The feed ranges from 16.00 - 18.00 depending on type. I am trying some feed from a mill a couple hours away. I will be driving past the town it is in for the next year. The mill sells their own mix for 10.46 per 50 lbs (laying crumbles). They also sell an 18% grower for 11.50. Game bird starter for 13.50 (24%), and gamebird grower for 13.00(20%). I can't speak for the quality yet. The ingredients are comparable to the Dumar brand. I know they will mix feed for you, but I don't know what a minimum qty might be. I was considering asking them about mixing a balancer, and buying bulk grains from the farmers. Has anyone done this?
I met someone in my area that uses hog finisher for a maintenance diet for his cocks (when they are grown out, and not in the breeding pen). He is paying 9.50 per 50 lb. bag. He also uses 1/8"catfish feed as a protein balancer (36%) that he pays 12.00 per bag for. I think the laying crumbles there is 10.00 per bag. I can't speak for his methods or the feed, but I can speak for his birds. They are pretty sharp.
This is the best prices I have been able to find. I am going to make comparisons at home over time. Cheaper is not always better, but if cheaper is as good in this case I will stick with it.
