What is the proper way to remove a hen, if she chicken gets frozen on the roof of a hut/coop?

That was our initial thought but because of the low subzero temps we were afraid that we would either scald and kill her or make her really sick ~ now thining lukewarm water but warm water freezes faster than cold water. Thanks for your advice.
I meant to get the hutch out so she won't get on it anymore.

I would think if it happened on top of the hutch it could happen on a outdoor ladder roost too... must have been really wet for that to happen

It ws -23F out and we think she may have fallen asleep on the roof and her body heat did just enough to though some of the snow and freeze her chest and a little bit of her feet

maybe cover the surface that they are sitting on with hay? That way they could still get up on it, but they would be not able to be frozen to it.

I agree, I am thinking of that but right now the snow is so deep, I just left the snow around the Hutch so that she won't be tempted to try it again. Don is gone for a couple days, so maybe I will let him clear the snow from the pen and do just that. Thanx
