what is the ratio of sugar to a gallon of water(for new chicks)

I've never used the sugar water but have heard several people say they put 1 tsp in the quart chick waterer. I've just made sure they drank water and given them some scrambled eggs.

I use Karo syrup. It mixes easier. About 2 tbs. to a gallon.
