What is the recommended method of attaching wire to the frame?

Old carpenters' trick for holding small nails/brads with big fingers: use masking tape. push the nail/brad through a piece of masking tape(or scrap, stiff paper,) then hammer in the offending nail. Before you hit home, yank the tape off...no mashed fingers!

I accidentally bought the wrong staples

for the project so I ended up using 1.25" crown moulding staples which are quite narrow. Since the wood I was stapling into is 1.5" they worked perfectly!

Keep in mind this is redwood, so softer (and lighter) than douglas fir, so the staples went in easily.

I would think Galvanised staples could be quite effective .... very quick too.

I will try them next time.

I tried the galv staples in an old redwood fence a while ago and they didn't hold very well. This new frame is so light I'd be afraid to hammer on it. The staples I used are nice and deep and not too visible. I used an air nailer to put them in.

Looks good!! Yep, an air nailer works much better than a hammer when it comes to nailing staples!! Just ask my hubby, when we made a penned in area for our kids to play in because we live on a farm and the tractor is always going up and down our driveway and we needed a safe area for our young ones to play in, he used a hammer and had very sore fingers, I never heard the end of it

When we made our coop and run he decided to buy a pressure air gun thingy, and no more complaining of sore fingers.

When we built our coop last week my neighbor brought out his trusty air compressor - we used a nail gun to really toughen up the frame in corners (in addition to the screws and glue we used about everywhere) and used the airgun and staples for the wire. What we realized while laying down the hardware cloth was the staples were ALMOST piercing wires themselves that make up the hardware cloth, so my neighbor backed off the air pressure used. He got it fine tuned in a couple more "shots" and we really tacked it down just about every way imaginable. I wouldn't want to be anything trying to get out, ain't gonna happen. LOL
