What is the status of National Aninmal Identification System?(NAIS)

Just caught wind of this. Pretty scary. Makes me want to go live deep in the woods. Any one have any updates on this. I googled it, but at this point it's a little overwhelming. I don't know how much more of this type of Freedom we can handle......

We generally let the NAIS posts die a slow lonely death in the recycle bin. It ends up being arguments of conspiracy (which of course can be neither proved or disproved) versus a few voices who are actually familiar with it and just get flamed for debunking some the wild claims.

We have government and agricultural workers as members and some of these arguments get very insulting. I'd just encourage you to research a bit in real life (like through your Extension Agent) and not believe everything you read on the "NO NAIS" style websites.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle.
