What is the strangest thing your chickens ate? Mine just ate crawfish Monica and aligator tail

My girls have eaten bamboo. They also love lizards and will eat slugs, although there is much beak cleaning afterwards.

My favorite hen Hazel ate my diamond earring right out of my ear. I have learned to never wear jewelry near them. I never did get the earring back. I'm sure it's grinding up her food with all the other grit.

That is funny but so sad! Reminds me of our dog (deceased now) but when she was a puppy, I had a Rolex watch in our bathroom in an alligator head jewelry holder. Well the head and the watch disappeared. And that day I suddenly remembered that I'd seen her running out the door and acting guilty....We had no doubt who the thief was. Never got it back either. Was a hard one for the Insurance company to swallow....

, even if it wasn't hard for HER to swallow, lol!

My husband did such a great job on our chicken coop. He even used styrofoam insulation covered in foil on the tin roof. These chicken have gradually destroyed the insulation. I have even seen them jumping up from the coop floor to grab a bite....hope they won't get too cold this winter

The strangest thing that my chickens LOVE is fish carcasses. When we clean fish, we always save them a few, and they devour them.

A chicken quesadilla that my rooster named James Brown stole off of my son's plate when he was eating his lunch outside. All of the other chickens were chasing it all around the yard trying to tear off a piece. It just seemed so wrong.

I also found a green plastic bb from my son's airsoft gun embedded in one of their poops when I was cleaning the their poop board.

Had my cochin hen sitting on my shoulder in the house, she decided the height was a perfect way to reach that tasty morsel of a ceiling fan pull. Had to fish it back up out of her crop! We no longer have shiny ends on the pulls that she can get her beak 'round.

Food wise, she has literally leaped in to chicken and dumpling soup bowls when I wouldn't share. Saw her kill and eat a spricket despite the huge leg spurs, tried to stop her but didn't get there in time. Also took a slice of pizza once. Dragged it off, scratched at it and pulled off all the cheese, got too alarmed by all the gooey on her boots to actually eat any of it but an attempt was made.
What is a spricket?
