What is The worst kind of hawk???

My neighbors are pretty certain a red tailed hawk took their rooster. He was maybe medium sized, 2x the size of their silky hen. My other neighbor said a red tailed hawk tried to take their Pekingese dog many years ago, I’m not sure if it could or could not lift the dog.

I was just wondering if all hawks eat chickens or what? We have a Lotta red tail hawks should we be worried about those probably, just asking? Thanks.

You should be worried as they will try to kill and or eat chickens.

Red tailed hawks at the most weigh 1 to 3 lbs. Where a Pekingese can be anywhere from 7 to 14 lbs, so a hawk will most likely not try for one of those as they are too heavy. Hawks can only carry prey of or around the same weight of them.

But they could go after a young puppy or small cat.
