Hey all! I hope I'm posting in the right section :) I'm the wildlife coordinator where I work and do the bulk of our rehab. This little chick was brought into my work over the weekend and I've never gotten one of these in before. I want to make sure I'm giving it the right care, since whatever it is, its domesticated (as in, I know its not one of our native or migratory birds and is likely a species the state considers "domesticated" and not releasable) and will be a permanent resident I live in Florida and we have alot of peafowl here.. alot more than turkeys, so I'm assuming this is a peachick? What are your thoughts? Its kind of a greasy, grubby little thing, but very bright and alert, chirps all the time like its talking to itself. I'd be ever so grateful for any info! :)

you should be able to see a little comb above the beak between the eyes.

mabe something like this little rose comb

or this little straight comb

These babies are only 4 days old where yours looks to be 2 to 3 weeks old

Thank you folks so much for your replies and being kind about my ignorance :) I'm sure I'll be on this forum quite a bit more in the near future as I've recently built myself a chicken coop and am taking in a few hens from a friend who is moving. I've got oodles of experience with wild birds, but chickens and the like are a new endeavor for me (that I'm super excited about!). Ironically, after my confusion over this little chick, it looks like I'm taking in a few definite peachicks this coming weekend. This time I'll be better prepared :)
Again, thank you ever so much!
