One of my girls, Sophie, started doing this recently and I can’t figure out what is causing it. She has been fine in this setting for the most part up until now. Then Pippie all of a sudden joined in. Can anyone tell me what is going on please…

Are you referring to them trying to get out? They probably see you and you're the person with the food so they're exciting and trying to get to you.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

The answer is simple, very much like any other caged, pacing animal.. she's bored and wants out.

Offering some forms of enrichment might be helpful. Something to scratch in and peck at, like shavings or a clump of dirt with grass and roots still attached for example.

How long have they been in that set up and how much longer will they be in there?

The first poster also makes a good point, that it may be *partly* associated with seeing you as the bringer of good things! 🥰

Does the behavior change when they don't know you're watching?
