Yes maybe
that may be it!! How does this happen??? I sprayed seven all over the run and I’ll do it again tomorrow…should I put diotomatious earth in the feed? Would that help control it?

I’m going to sprinkle diotomatious earth out on the whole coop too!

Diotomaeceous Earth isn't going to help and its bad for your birds and you to breathe.

Check your bag of feed. Some feeds contain DE in small amounts as a drying agent, and I suppose to prevent bugs. I think the best thing would be to get some feed that is free of grain mites. I have never had them, but another poster tonight was talking about having a hard time finding feed without them. Summertime is hard with fees. I used to buy feed from a now closed feed store chain that always had weevils in every bag in summertime. They must have had an infestation either in the warehouse of where the feed came from at their national or regional source.

I get my feed from a local farmer he does his own milling. I had weevils once from him too. His feed is 12 dollars a 50 I use those in my automatic feeders. I get regular feed from agway as there day and night actual feed. I’m probably over feeding them but I have 50 chickens right now so I’d rather go over than under right now untill I even out. I just put some de in there feed and sprinkled it on the ground along with seven. Tomorrow I’ll go out there and take it up and assess.

Edit: (Omg that’s not what I wrote I meant to say I’ll go out there and rake it) but I’ll keep that mistake because it’s funny lol

I’m not in the mood for mites I’m still clearing the path of coccidiosis! Arrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Is it damp in your area where feed is kept? It may just involve some cleaning and keeping things dry to prevent them. I would read this article about how to get rid of grain mites:
https://extension.entm.purdue.edu/publications/E-222/E-222.html
My whole coop was expensive….no rain can get into it, snow can not blow into it. I wanted the best of the best for these babies lol

However my has been so humid, my coop has been hanging at around 77% humidity!!
