How old? How big? I have banties.

I think about 8 weeks but my chicks were large fowl. I have a cage that I can put the young ones in out in the coop now. I gauge how soon to let them out by if they can pass through a chain link fence. I don't want them to get out where I have to chase them so hard. If they can't pass through the chain link, the cats don't bother them.
