What is this dark ring on my duck egg on Day 27? (Pic)

As most new hatchers I imagine, I’ve been a complete wreck since lockdown wondering if my duck eggs are ok. Not much activity. I checked on them at 1am, and nada.

But I woke up this morning to 2 external pips! And one of the eggs has a wonky looking ring shaped “bruise” which did not look this way last night. Thoughts? Is this bad? I don’t want to open the bator now that external pips have happened.

Maybe that's just the internal pipping all around..?

Oh no I’m so sorry it’s so hard losing little ones. Do you know what happened so you can avoid it next time?

Thanks! I honestly don’t. It was our first time hatching so maybe temps were off a bit? But we did get 5 healthy ducklings out of ten eggs who are now thriving!
