what is this dark spot in the air cell?

I know I've been asking for a lot of help lately... so thank you guys! how can I know if this egg has internally pipped? the other day she was moving and I believe chirping but now I'm getting nothing. The first egg in this batch hatched 5 days ago and was only one day older than these eggs. If it has internally pipped should I try and help it? also what is the dark spot in the air cell?

I would open a hole large enough to see if she is moving and pipped. Four days behind, unless the first one hatched day 19 or 18, is something to be worried about. Since you haven't seen her move or heard her she might be dead. Either way, I would open the air sac top to see what the hold up is.

i dont see any pip in the air sac do you think that means shes dead?

Have you verified the temp of your incubator? I ask because that air cell is still pretty large, and the chick isn't filling up to it, indicating this chick wouldn't be ready to hatch yet. If you aren't seeing any movement at all, it might have died a couple of days ago.

the incubator has been at 100.4 steady

I meant verify as in with a separate hygrometer/thermometer. I have four incubators, three of them Brinsea 56s, and not one is accurate.

oh I didnt even think about the incubator being wrong I'll have to buy a thermometer I dont have one. but I ended up opening the eggs, both were goners, we got 1 out of 3 hatched which was kinda expected since these were my bantam hens first eggs. Thanks for all your great info and help!

You're so welcome! Congrats on the one chick. Do you have any stores or people near you selling chicks so you could get him a friend?

Many of us use the Govee brand ones you can get on Amazon, and they almost always have one or more of their versions on sale. I also got these from eBay as they fit better in my incubators. They were spot on!
