What is this feather?

Hey everyone, was cuddling one of my ducklings and noticed a weird feather on her back. It’s very hard and looks to be growing odd. I know it’s very possible this is normal and that it is nothing but I just wanted to double check since I have never seen this before: I attached a picture so you all can get a better idea of what I am saying. Any input or ideas greatly appreciated!

That is the uropygial gland, and there is often a small concentration of tiny feathers surrounding it.

Awesome thanks! Just wanted to make sure it was her oil gland! I’ve never seen feathers grow from it like that haha! Thanks

Yep, and as she grows the feather will become yellow and oily indicating she has a healthy unclogged oil gland.
