Does anyone know what this is and if it’s harmful to chickens? I want to build our new run in this area and these are all over. Our three year old thinks they’re dinosaur eggs and if that’s the case we have a really big problem ![Grinning face with sweat  😅](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f605.png)

This one was pretty hard to cut into, I know they do ripen like that reddish one in the original post.can you cut open the fruit to see pit? close up of leaf would help
leaf shape does not match the paw paw. Plus, the paw paw fruits grow in a connected hand.Looks like a paw-paw.
I agree, looks like Wild Plum also known as American Plum. There is a conservation effort to promote the growing of these plums that were important to indigenous people. It looks like a plum to me.
