What is this golden chicken?

They are buff orpingtons.. but I'm not convinced they are all hens.. the ones in the front look like they have saddle feathers coming in. They look like my rooster did when he was young. I hope I'm wrong.

10-4 thanks. I have no idea how old they are...don't know if they are past their good laying age or haven't reached it yet, but Ive had them for 3 days and no eggs yet. I looked them all over pretty for spurs etc...and all appear to be hens.

I don not think they are buff orpingtons. Buff orpingtons have a bigger build because they are dual purpose birds, they can be used for meat. I think they are golden comets/nuggets. It depends on how much they lay. Golden comets/nuggets lay 1 egg a day, and a buff orpington lays about 5-4 eggs a week. I agree with the previous coment though, I think some of them are roosters.:/

Sorry, you're never going to get eggs from those guys. They're all roosters, I'm guessing in the 4 month range. Orpingtons can be a slower to mature breed, sometimes not crowing until 7-8 months. But you can see saddle feathers starting, the darker gold shading on the wings, the thick legs and just the overall stance. Hens are rounded, feminine looking. These guys all look like teenage boys--gawky, gangly and too leggy.

If they were gold comets, the roosters would be white with red patches on the wings, and the collars and tails would be white on the hens.

I would've guessed that they are cockerels in the 3-4 month old range. Mine didn't develop spurs until he was 7-8 months old. He was sold to me as a young hen but turned out to be an even younger cockerel. They definitely still have some growing to do. They'll probably be big boys.
