What is this? Help me out.

Hi, welcome to BYC, that is a cockerel, you can see that a bit by his shape, tall with a big chest (that it's not a 100% indicator) and by his saddle feathers, the long feathers that are dropping down right before the tail.
 
Definitely male.

If the soles of his feet are white rather than yellow then he's an Australop (if yellow, a Jersey Giant).

No guarantees, but my Australorp boys have been laid-back gentlemen so far. I can turn my back on the one in my avatar without worry.
Thanks for the info. Before I started this thread and learned for certain that this bird was male, I wondered if it was a female Jersey Giant sent to me by mistake--"she" was SO much bigger than the other Australorp girls. I'll have to check his feet later today, but I'm pretty sure they're white.
