What is this?? Injured, weak baby chick

It does look like a cut doesn't it. Wonder if she cut it on wire or a staple/nail or something. Maybe accidental toenail scratch from Mama hen...(maybe Mama stepped on her, it does happen sometimes).

It's good she's not bleeding anymore, the lethargy is concerning, so giving the vitamins and water is what I'd do, see if she perks up.

If you want her to perk up and make sure she is getting in what she need you can also give her egg yolk with a syringe every couple of hours

You can easily make water with electrolytes.

Homemade Electrolyte Recipe for Chicks:
  1. 1 cup warm water.
  2. 2 teaspoons molasses, honey or granulated sugar.
  3. 1/8 teaspoon salt.
  4. 1/8 teaspoon baking soda.
I would try to give it a little food too. Crumbled boiled egg mixed with/or wet chick starter.

I had a poor chick last year and kept it warm in a kangeroo bag on my belly (didn’t have a heat pad) . After caring a whole day I put him back under the mama after dark. Next day he went along with the others.

Thank you!! We are loving on it this morning, but it does seem to just be getting weaker, poor baby. I will try the electrolytes with egg and feed. It did have a big healthy poop overnight, but is just not fighting as hard as I wish she was!
