What is this?? *Item found in creek bed*

I LOVE fossels! Some of my vendors will stop by for a visit, and usually pull out a fossil out of their pockets they've picked up for me.

It's definatly a tooth.. but looks a little different than the horse tooth... perhaps another grazing critter of the time period, like stag, I thought horses were much smaller back in the day and that tooth seems pretty big!

I love fossils too, have found quite a few. A cattail, shells and far to many ferns.

Its a tooth. We find them all the time. Found a fossil skull of a bison. Tooo cool!

Tooth absolutely. Herbivore at that. A local university may be able to hook you up with further IDs.

Apparently there are no archaelogical sites in the northwestern half of MN. So much for my hopes of ever finding neat stuff

Depending on where you are located you can try taking it to the university. The best option is either a wildlife biologist, paleontologist, or a zooarchaeologist in an anthropology program.

I would suggest a picture with something for scale, like a ruler, and then you can email it to someone that works with bones.
