About 5 weeks old. Hatched under broody, i check on them
Just about daily; just saw this today. Of course with 14 of them running around im sure been like this for litle while. Is it just a peck wound ? None of the chicks were picked on / bullied. This ones mom has kicked them
Out the brooder nest already tho.

Its eatinn & drinking Just fine. No sickly symptoms, i read the article and it said its highly contagious. Separation isnt realy viable rite now as the growout pen has 8 ducklings. and theres no real cure for it. Should i just go head and cull it to spare the rest of flock ? (14 biddys, 18 hens, 2 roos, 8 ducks)

If it is dry pox, it will run it's course and the other fowl are likely already exposed. In this case no need to cull. I don't know enough about wet pox to say anything. Nor am I qualified to say it is dry. It does look like it, albeit very bad.

@azygous @Eggcessive , What are your thoughts on OP?

Fowl pox is a virus usually transmitted by mosquitoes. It will run its course in about 3-4 weeks.

I would not separate nor cull the chick as long as it is eating and drinking fine. Culling the chick will not spare the flock as any mosquito bite can cause infection.

Yes, that looks like fowl pox, which is more severe in chicks. I would get Betadine and paint the scabs with a QTip or cotton ball, keeping it away from eyes.

So it’s just gona look
Rough for a couple weeks. Paint the scabs; and all
Should be well?

Im sure it came from the bug exploision. There relentless rite now down here for at leaast another week or two

Make sure that it has a full crop at night and help with some scrambled egg to keep the energy up.

And watch out for others that might develop similar issues and may not be able to eat or drink properly by themselves and might need some help for a few days.
