I have his twin, this is Mohawk! Ginger Red OEGB and bantam Nankins are so similar and I'm not quite sure which one Mohawk is. Although, I did get him together with our other boy who is a lighter color Black-tailed buff OEGB. I'm leaning towards Ginger red OEGB for Mohawk over Nankin, although it'd be neat to have a rare chicken! I got these guys from Atwoods bantam bin and they get their chicks from Ideal Poultry. Ideal does have Nankins, but OEGB are more common and likely.
Both these boys are small but mighty and can fly very well. After chasing them around the woods a couple dozen times, they've FINALLY realized that the grass isn't always greener. Both fly to the top of our fence, but no longer go outside of it. Stampy, the black-tailed buff OEGB, loves to fly to the top of our sons wooden play set and crow...and crow..and crow...Did I mention how loud these two boys are?
I would definitely think about re-homing if noise is an issue for you. Both can also fly from our back porch to their coop which is probably around 200 feet away. All in all, they're buds and handsome fellas!
This is both of them at around 15(ish) weeks. Mohawk is ginger-red, Stampy is black-tailed buff.
This is Mohawk now at 6 mo old.
I was trying to get a picture of our newest babies, and these boys wouldn't get out of the way! They are two peas in a pod for sure.
