Bought this little hen at an auction last night... I know she is probably a cross of some kind but of what ? She is very small and has little tufts around her ears and feathered feet. I bought her because I thought she was a pretty color. any ideas what she may be ????

I'm not a bantam person but I'm thinking d'uccle. I'm not sure if that's a recognized color for them, but I agree it's pretty.

Do you know how old it's supposed to be? Something about it's making me think young cockerel, not hen.

It was a small animal auction so I don't know how old the bird is.. but the box was marked bantam hen. So I assumed that it was a little girl.

It probably is a hen, there's really no sex feathers. Something about the comb just looks off to me, maybe it's just the lighting.

Thank you donrae... looked up pictures of D'uccles and I think that is what my little bird may be. The lighting is pretty bad in this pic, sorry about that.

She has light slate blue feathers, feathered legs, blue skin, and a single comb and a beard: she is a self blue D'uccle hen.

She's also gorgeous. Congrats on getting her!
