What is this lump

My girl has this super weird lump on her face, we are novice chicken owners and have absolutely no idea what to do? There aren’t any chicken vets near us and we aren’t sure what we should do. She’s happy, eating and laying every other day like normal. The lump is super hard but she won’t let me hold her to really feel it. It has been here since we got her a few months ago but it has gotten bigger maybe in the last month or two. It’s only this one lump as far as we can see.
Thank you for any advice :)

If she's eating, drinking and laying normally, that's a good sign that whatever it is has not caused an infection so far.
But you will definitely have to get her used to being handled, so you can figure out what it is and treat it.
It looks like it's not interfering with her nostril, but protruding from her comb? Might be an abscess, that was caused by some sort of scratch or injury. I would buy some sulfamethazone powder, that you dissolve into her water according to the directions, also buy a safe wound-cleaning product such as betadine- both of these are available at feed stores.
Then sterilize a needle, puncture the lump and hope a bunch of pus drains out. If so, squeeze as much pus out as you can, clean the area really well with betadine, and give her the sulfa in her water for a week.

Thank you for the advice! I’ll try and get a better look in the morning tomorrow and see. I think it’s on her comb part not her nostril but to be honest I had to google where their ears were so I’m a total novice at this! :) I’ll go to the feed store tomorrow and get the bits and give it a go :)

Good luck with your hen! It's pretty rare for most of us to have a vet nearby who treats chickens (unless $$$) so we tend to learn how to treat minor injuries ourselves.

Your local feed store can be a great resource too, many people who work there raise chickens themselves and are very helpful.

How does the lump feel? Did it grow quickly? Fluid filled, soft, firm, spongy, etc? It looks smoothe and benign, possibly a cyst or fibroma, but hard to know. A vet might help to remove it. Is it narrow at the base where it could be tied off?
