Chick just hatched all by itself. Bad pic but it's dark in that room sorry. Is it a yolk, it has veins but looks yellow inside. Will it absorb it?

It is the chick's yolk sac that wasn't completely absorbed. I've never experienced this issue, but I've read others' posts and it seems that sadly they frequently don't make it. But I did read where someone suggested that a paper towel can be moistened with warm water and wrapped around the chick with just the head sticking out. Leave the chick in the incubator undisturbed for a number of hours and I guess there is a chance that it might still absorb. You don't want it to dry out. Again, this is second hand information and I have no personal knowledge of it. Just thought I'd pass it along. Good luck.

Is there a way you can put up some kind of barrier between him and the others? maybe in a corner? I would be worried about another peep snagging it or picking at it. Im sure you can be creative and find something around the house to put in there to keep him safe.I have lifted my lid in lockdown before, i just had a spray bottle handy to mist to air and keep humidity up. good luck I will be watching for updates.Poor Lil fellar.

Google "yolk hanging out of chick" Theres alot of info on there to help you through. Majority says keep em separate from others, and moist so it doesnt dry out. You can also attempt to gently push it back in with a wet q tip. I have no idea, just dont let it snag ant tear on the bottom or anything. Put a wet paper towel underneath him to help. I hope he makes it. I will say a little Chickie Prayer for him.

Thanks everyone. I have a extra incubator running (still air) just incase I needed to separate anyone. I'll put her in there with a wet paper towel and let you know how she is in the morning.
